Better Balance Massage Therapy:

Alana is the founder/owner & primary Massage Therapist (15+ years) of Better Balance Massage Therapy. Better Balance Massage Therapy has been successfully treating clients since October 2011!

Practicing since Jan 2008, Alana has been working primarily in a rehabilitative setting within the Kingston community (K-Town Physiotherapy & KOPI - the Kingston Orthopaedic Pain Institute). She has an instructing and supervising background with the Massage Therapy Students of Trillium College (Kingston Campus) since October 2011. She also has had the wonderful experience of teaching business to the SLC’s International Health Care & Business Admin student in the fall & winter of 2022. 

Alana is a proud graduate of the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy, which is a very reputable college, founded in 1946, to rehabilitate Canadian Military Veterans.

She offers a very comprehensive & efficient health history intake and specializes in techniques & add-ons such as: Deep-tissue, Myofascial Release, Passive Stretching, Joint Mobilizations, Hot Stone Massage, Aromatherapy, Indie Head Massage, & Mindfulness-based Massage Therapy. She has extensive experience in treating Sports, Repetitive-Strain Injuries, Pre & Post Operative Conditions/Injuries, Scar tissue: Ie mastectomy, diaphragm, abdominal, musculoskeletal, Pre & post-natal & more. Having said that, she is quite happy to provide a complete relaxation massage & incorporates full-diaphragmatic breathing and relaxation into each individualized therapeutic treatment.

She is the RMT Community Co-ordinator of the RMTAO & is in good standing with the CMTO.

Yoga:

Alana completed her YTT200 (Yoga Teacher Training) in 2020, through Janati Yoga school. She often incorporates specific and appropriate yoga into her Massage Therapy sessions, either as part of self-care (Remedial Exercise) or on the table. As she focuses on breath and mindfulness, you can expect to be led in a safe and accessible way, and leave feeling uplifted, relaxed and more connected with your body & mind.
