Better Balance Massage Therapy

Our practice is dedicated to improving YOUR wellbeing

Hello valued clients!

*What to expect before your appointment?*

*You will receive some FORMS to fill out and return to us BEFORE your appt.:

COVID screening, Health History & Consent forms (we are moving forward with electronic forms, so we will need to have a NEW e-HHF, e-Consent & COVID forms all filled out from you. We may require you to fill out an additional Consent to Treat a Sensitive Area form, so if we believe we will be treating a sensitive area, that form will also be sent to you in advance. (Sensitive areas may incl.: gluteals, inner thighs (hip flexor/groin region), chest/pectoral region etc.)

*You will be screened again, in person, so if your health changes before your appointment, please contact us ASAP. If you arrive for your appt. and you're unwell, we will not be able to treat you. You will then be required to pay the full fee for your scheduled appt. Please provide us with at least 24 hours if you're needing to cancel your appt. We ask for as much time as possible (especially under the circumstances), so we may schedule someone in your place. You will be required to wear a mask. Please be wearing your mask before you enter our building. (Please ensure you have placed your mask on correctly - with clean hands, covering your mouth and nose.)

If you do not have a mask, one will be provided to you for an additional $2 & will be added to the invoice/receipt. Also, if you are aware that you won't be wearing your own mask, please let us know in advance, so we can have one ready for you. (If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us. Especially if you have a medical condition that will not permit the use of a mask. This info will need to be relayed to us BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT, so that we may prepare for extra pre-cautionary measures, to ensure everyone's safety.)

*We ask you to wait in your car & will communicate with you, as to when we can invite you into the building. If necessary (travelling on foot or bike etc.) you may wait in our waiting room.
Please arrive on your own, unless it's not possible. If you require someone to be attending your appt. with you, please let us know, so we can prepare.

*Clean hands. We will provide hand sanitizer upon arrival. If needed, we will ask that you wash your hands. You're more than welcome to use our bathroom at any time, but we also ask that you use the bathroom before you arrive, to minimize the cleaning we have to do.

*We will be wearing a surgical mask, that is required to be changed between each client.

*We will be meeting all disinfectant and COVID-infection control requirements defined by our governing college, the CMTO.

*Method of payment will remain the same, however, if possible, please send an EMT prior to your appt. This will help us limit the use of our POS machine, cleaning etc.

Any other additional info. will be provided.

Thank you for your patience & understanding, as we work together, towards our "new normal"!

Trust that we have everyone’s health and safety as top priority. We appreciate your co-operation and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Regarding our 'Gradual Restart of Deferred Services: Updated Government Order':

As mentioned above, the government’s order was recently updated, with the updated order (Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health’s Directive #2 for Regulated Health Professionals, attached) Massage Therapists (RMTs) are now permitted to gradually restart Massage Therapy services.

Directive #2 allows for a gradual restart of services to be carried out with adherence to guidance from the health profession’s regulatory college. CMTO is recommending that RMTs resume practice gradually because the Directive encourages healthcare providers to limit the number of in-person visits for the safety of healthcare providers and their patients/clients. In the gradual restart of services, RMTs must:

Comply with requirements in the Government of Ontario’s COVID-19 Operational Requirements: Health Sector Restart (May 26, 2020 or as current), including the hierarchy of hazard controls;
Prioritize clients with essential care needs while gradually resuming practice. Treatment is considered essential when the client’s overall health or function would considerably decline if treatment were not provided (i.e. lead to hospitalization or other serious health consequences);
Adhere to the COVID-19 Pandemic – Practice Guidance for Massage Therapists;
Restart Massage Therapy practice gradually, ensuring enough time between appointments to clean and disinfect the practice environment; and
Regularly look for updates on the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 webpage and the CMTO webpage, as the pandemic continues to evolve

COVID-19 Pandemic – Updated Practice Guidance for Massage Therapists

This guidance has been prepared based on Ministry of Health and Public Health Ontario information and resources, in collaboration with other healthcare regulators. RMTs providing care are expected to follow this guidance.

How to protect yourself & others:

Please take social distancing & self-isolation seriously at this time. Proactive measures taken by our global community will most likely have a significant positive impact on the health and safety of EVERYONE going forward.

Coronaviruses are spread mainly from person to person through close contact, for example, in a household, workplace or health care centre.

There are everyday actions that can help prevent the spread of germs that cause respiratory illnesses. Take these everyday steps to reduce exposure to the virus and protect your health:

wash your hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer
sneeze and cough into your sleeve
avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
avoid contact with people who are sick
stay home if you are sick

**Proactive measures to ensure the prevention of any further transmission of the COVID-19 virus & to assist you in seeking care, if needed, are as follows:

If you have a FEVER and/or new onset of cough or difficulty breathing, AND in the 14 days before symptom onset, you have:

been to a COVID-19 impacted area, or
you have been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, or
you have been in close contact with a person with acute respiratory illness who has been to a COVID-19 impacts area:

Contact your primary health care provider, & self-isolate until you are cleared

BUT if your symptoms are more severe --> Report immediately to a hospital near you.

Contact Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 or your local public health unit if you’re experiencing symptoms of the 2019 novel coronavirus.

Do not call 911 unless it is an emergency.
